Nights@Nous: Nights@Nous: Nous Café is open late! Thanks to ASGC’s efforts last semester, the Graduate Student Lounge will now remain open until midnight on weekdays, as well as expanding hours during weekends. Check out the pictures from our Bob Ross Painting Night on our Instagram page, and look out for the announcement of our next event!
ASGC Awards: Nominations are open for ASGC’s yearly awards! The ASGC Executive Board is responsible for giving two awards, the Faculty Mentoring Award, which is granted to a faculty member in Arts and Sciences who has had a positive effect on the community of GSAS, and the Chinweike Okegbe Service Award, given to two senior graduate students and one non-student who have demonstrated remarkable leadership in their Departments and to the University. Nominations for both awards will be accepted before Friday, April 3, 2026.
Department Visits: ASGC now offers department visits! All departments with ASGC representation must host one department visit per semester; we use these department visits to educate graduate students on the resources available through ASGC. If you aren’t sure whether your department has hosted your semesterly visit, you can reach out to Laura, our Inclusion and Engagement Chair, by filling out this form.
Student Safety Survey: A reminder to fill out our student safety survey! This survey was created in collaboration with graduate students from across the University in order to gauge student feelings on the continued closure of the gates and the increased presence of Public Safety officers. All feedback is anonymous, but we will be bringing the results of the survey to a meeting with the GSAS deans. Please fill out the survey as soon as possible!
Updated Statement on the Unionization: At our most recent plenary session, ASGC voted to endorse the Student Workers of Columbia in their Strike Authorization Vote. In conversations with Union representatives, student leaders, and graduate students, we decided to re-confirm our support for the SWC, and to implore our administration to work swiftly towards acceptable terms, as the SWC continues to bargain for a better standard of living for graduate students across the University.
